Chinwe Efuribe, MD, MPH

Medical Director

Chinwe Efuribe, MD, MPH (she/her) is a board-certified pediatrician with a focus in adolescent health and founder of Centered Youth Clinic and Consulting, an Austin-based clinic working to provide holistic, high-quality, person-centered healthcare to youth and young adults by promoting wellness through supportive peer groups and provider teams.

For more than a decade, Dr. Efuribe has cared for youth in federally qualified health centers and Title X clinics in Minnesota and the Austin-area. Her passion for adolescent health was sparked during her Pediatrics residency when she worked with teens in a school-based health clinic. While working with high school peer health educators, she saw firsthand how important it was for young people to have clear, honest information about sexual and reproductive health. “I love the ability to use my medical knowledge and change how I deliver that information to young people and have them use that power to strengthen their peers to be able to take charge of their health.”

Title X clinics are one of the only places teens in Texas can receive confidential, high-quality, and unbiased sexual and reproductive healthcare. Dr. Efuribe sees an opportunity for Every Body Texas and our network of Title X clinics to serve adolescents as they gain autonomy and progress to the next stage of their lives. “We should be thinking about how we empower young people as they transition into adulthood and be mindful of how we truly engage them in the healthcare process.”

Dr. Efuribe has served as the Chair of the Youth Engagement Subcommittee and Associate Director of Programs for the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine and is the Secretary and Community Outreach Coordinator for the Austin Black Physicians Association. Personally, Chinwe loves to laugh and rollerblade, is grounded by her faith, and is an innovative, community-builder whose love languages are acts of service and quality time.
